The city hall elections were today. One of the most manipulative, religious extremist bastard of a party AKP (ak parti) almost won every city election. WHY? isn’t it obvious, let me put it this way Bush-Gore 2000 elections. Same thing.

The past month my mom told me not to talk about the government when I was on the phone with Turkey. We received a gazillion threats when we’ve written about the government. Some even dared to ask “how we weren’t in jail yet”.

Do you know why we aren’t in jail yet motherfucker? Yeah.. Because we moved to the United States of America and no matter how fucked up the foreign policy might be, We can say whatever the fuck we want! It’s a little thing called FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

In elementary school in Turkey they teach you that you have freedom of speech, it bullshit.

I live in Ankara for 18 years, then I moved to Istanbul. The mayor for Ankara is an absolute asshole. For the past two years he poisoned Ankara by mixing the river water with its main water. The river water was high in Arsenic, and when I was in Ankara I got sick because of it.

Basically I don’t even want to talk about the politics. I wanted CHP to win. It’s the only strong liberal party. It has a million flaws but it’s the best of the worst.

What pisses me off is to see the idiots in Turkey. Who have not seen any better and believe that putting people in jail for what they say or what they think is okay. Most of the elected officials are elementary school graduates! Seriously, I’m not joking. Would you let a 12 year old run your country?

Turkey is supposed to be secular.. and so is America. You know what… bs. They’re neither secular nor democratic.

Turkey is turning into Iran right before our eyes. Watch Persepolis and tell me if you can’t spot the hundred similarities.

It’s a sad day for Turkey, as usual. I’m waiting for the day that I don’t dread going back and living there. I’m waiting for the day when the millions of bright young kids get the chance to live up to their potential.
