I have been taking thyroid pills for about 20 years, don't let it get you down.
I had some sort of infection when I was a student and went hyper for a bit, had to take thyroid blocking drugs for 18 months and then it got better. Gradually over the next decade or so my thyroid got less and less active until it finally quit altogether. I think I have antibodies to my thyroid. I have vitiligo as well, which came on later and probably the vitiligo is related, the same antibodies kill off the tanning cells in the skin. Unfortunately singing like Micheal Jackson doesn't come with it.
I'm lucky, I guess in that I'm a retired doctor, so it all makes sense to me. Don't let it get you down, and if talking to some retired bloke in England is any help then give me a buzz.
